Biography
Originally from the Kootenays (BC), Loren Williams has lived in Montreal since 1993. She works as a photographer and enjoys exhibiting in singular places whose history she explores. This is why she is particularly fond of research residencies, which feed into her exhibitions. She has thus explored the Osler Library for the history of Medicine at McGill University in Montreal (2017-18), the Frelighsburg cemeteries as part of Adélard (2020) and Montreal’s Parc Lafontaine (2022).

Rewilding Angus (2023)
Loren Williams’ gardens don’t appear at first glance. They reveal themselves and grow when it rains or when water is sprayed on them. That’s when the magic happens. Traveling plants, edible plants, “crazy” grasses, ghosts of the site’s history: a whole botanical world offers a rich heritage to explore. All the species chosen by Loren Williams have been recorded on Montreal territory as far back as 1821, a natural memory rich in lessons.
